Hey Joris!

Thanks for the inspiration. I've started my own build but i'm a complete newbie.
I have pulled a capstan motor (BHF-3108B) form an old vcr. Similar to the one used in your light clock. Wondered if you could explain how best to get it moving. I've no idea about micro processors. I apologise for my ignorance on the subject.
I'd greatly appreciate any help.
Thanx

I was doing a Google image search for lasers when I landed on your site. I am an Engineer in the making ( few more months to go) and was amazed at the stuff you have written about and have built yourself.

Let's just say, I am going to be a regular reader.

Hi,
I happen to find your website & project & was amazed to see your projects. I wanted to build them myself but the full details are not available. Can you please help? I an specifically interested in your Light projects, propeller & laser based.
Thanks in advance for sharing..

I am contemplating building a prop clock to continually run in a quiet area,(as quiet as it can get with a toddler in toe) and had the same thoughts about a lexan disc to minimize the wind noise generated by the rotor. have you completed this project? I would be interested to know how it panned out. and If you are willing to throw out some pointers I would appreciate it.

I've been contemplating the LED ring light recently, so I was very happy to find your site. Impressive work! I am left wondering which LEDs you have been using in the ring light 2.1. Scouting around on e.g. dealextreme.com, I find LEDs of many different light levels, up to 14000 mCd, and of seemingly nice spectrum white. Do you have any specs on the ones you used?

You inspired me to hack my Olympus E510 and create a remote shutter release. Thanks man!
Check it out here: (use link above)

Hey man... I just wanted to say that this is some great stuff! I had decided I was going to build a road case for my keyboard and stumbled upon your amazing website and have loved everything I have seen. Keep up the good work!

Just found your site today and I'm impressed. I'm into home shop machining, woodwork, and photography. Need good C/U photos for tooling, etc. that I sell on ebay. I have an electrical engineer friend with whom I swap work and we would like to have a try at your ring lights. Can you give me the source or a link to the CCFL light tubes? I spent so much for my Digital SLR such that I'm not anxious to drop a load for the Canon ring light. I currently have more time than money so would like to give it a try. Thanks
